Roland DGA and CIMsystem Host Digital Dental Training for Lab Professionals

Posted on November 30, 2012

Irvine, Calif., Nov. 30, 2012 – Dental lab professionals that attended a comprehensive Nov. 15 CAD/CAM training hosted by Roland DGA Corp. and 3D/dental market technology provider CIMsystem gained valuable insight on how digital technologies are transforming the dental industry.  Led by CIMsystem Mechanical Engineer Luigi Fanin and held at Roland’s Irvine, Calif. headquarters, the full-day event provided attendees with hands-on equipment and software training, key takeaways for success in the digital age, and CDT credits.

In addition to supplying information crucial for navigating the digital dental process, the training familiarized attendees with the technologically advanced products needed to deliver custom prosthetic production with speed, precision and economy, including Roland’s state-of-the-art DWX-50 5-axis dental milling machine. Participants learned how to mill everything from crowns to implant bridges and select the right CAD settings and tools to get the job done effectively and efficiently.

According to Todd Mayclin, DDT, owner of St. Louis, Minn.-based Mayclin Dental Studio, Inc., the session provided useful information and tips that could be easily integrated into any working dental lab operation. “I really appreciated the hands-on aspects of the training, said Mayclin. “My primary goal in attending was to ensure that our team was taking full advantage of the advanced functionality of our mill and the software we’re using.  This workshop was instrumental in helping us optimize the incredible technologies available today.”

Major Roland dealers, such as Louisville, Ky.-based Whip Mix Corp., are also conducting informative seminars with a focus on advanced digital dental technologies and products.  Whip Mix, which in addition to selling Roland DWX milling machines, manufactures and distributes its own line of dental equipment worldwide, hosted its first “Survive or Thrive Digital Forum” on Nov. 5. The two-day event helped 44 attending dental lab owners gain a thorough understanding of the industry’s transition into the digital age and the necessary steps for making that transition. Whip Mix has another dental CAD/CAM event scheduled for Dec. 6, which will also feature Roland’s DWX dental milling machines.
