Pre-Dental Student Bikes Across Country to Raise Funds, Support for Oral Health America

Posted on Monday, September 19, 2016

CHICAGO, September 19 – Aspiring pre-dental student Hannah Wilson concludes her journey across the country as the first participant in Oral Health America’s (OHA) new peer-to-peer fundraising initiative, Smile4Health. The new effort engages individuals with opportunities to raise awareness and much needed funds in support of programmatic work. Wilson rode her bike across the country to participate in a sport that she loves and to spread the word about oral health.

"This trip combined my passion for helping people,” said Hannah Wilson. "I got the opportunity to raise awareness and fundraise for oral health along the route as well!“

The North Carolina native traveled 4,228 miles of the historic TransAmerica Bicycle Trail from Virginia to Oregon earlier this summer. Wilson raised over $3,600 to support OHA programs and hosted two events to giveaway health resources along with toothbrushes and toothpaste. Hannah chronicled her journey across nine states on a blog, smilesformilesweb.com

Established in 1955, OHA supports the efforts of “Bringing Healthy Mouths to Life” through its range of partnerships and program efforts across the country.
