MADISON, WI —The 32nd Annual American Academy of Cosmetic Dentistry Scientific Session concluded its educational program April 30 at the Metro Toronto Convention Centre. More than 1200 people attended the four days of educational programming, which included 84 speakers, 68 lectures, 35 hands-on workshops, four entertaining and motivating general sessions, and some high-energy social events.
This year’s courses aligned with the conference themes of design, implementation, and realization, and the completely reimagined structure was referred to as the AACD Triple Play. An innovative conference concept, the AACD Triple Play brought some of the biggest names in cosmetic dentistry education to the podium every morning and afternoon to present on the day’s theme sequentially in the same room. Attendees were also able to select from AACD Accreditation courses, hands-on workshops, practice management courses, and more.
In addition to rich educational opportunities, the scientific session is a chance for the Academy to recognize and honor its members who have demonstrated their dedication to continuing education and responsible patient care by becoming an Accredited Member or Accredited Fellow. This year, the AACD acknowledged four newly Accredited Members and one newly Accredited Fellow. Other exemplary members of the Academy and of the profession were also recognized and honored with Celebration of Excellence Awards, known as the Evy.
Attendees to the conference also enjoyed opportunities to unwind and catch up with friends and colleagues. The social events began Wednesday night with the Welcome Reception at Real Sports Bar and Grill. Then on Thursday night between slap shots, party-goers took in the sparkly sights of NHL championship rings and the Stanley Cup at the Hockey Hall of Fame to raise funds for the AACD Charitable Foundation’s Give Back a Smile program. AACD 2016 concluded with the Celebration of Excellence Gala Reception, which dazzled guests with a red carpet experience and laser show. The wow-factor of this year’s Gala Reception has attendees already looking ahead to AACD 2017 in Las Vegas.
AACD 2016 was one for the record books, but the Academy already has some compelling ideas for next year’s scientific session. In efforts to outdo itself bringing its attendees the absolute best in cosmetic dentistry education, the 33rd Annual AACD Scientific Session will take place Tuesday, April 18 – Friday, April 21, 2017 at the Venetian Resort Hotel and Casino. At AACD 2017, the Legends, the Illusionists, and the High Rollers will take the stage, and the Academy guarantees this is the only show you’ll need to see this trip to Vegas.
