Ultradent Supports FDA Ban of Baby Products Containing BPA

Posted on Wednesday, October 9, 2013

Ultradent Products, Inc. supports the United States Federal Drug Administration’s recent ban of products that contain bisphenol A (BPA), a chemical known to cause harmful physical and psychological effects in children. Ultradent has always maintained a BPA-free manufacturing requirement for its dental sealants (UltraSeal XT® plus and UltraSeal XT® hydro).

“Ultradent does not use, nor do we plan to ever use bisphenol A dimethacrylate (the primary precursor resin to BPA when used in dental materials) in any of our resin dental products,” said Dr. Dan Fischer, President/CEO of Ultradent Products, Inc. “Furthermore, we use the purest form of Bis-GMA resin available for our Bis-GMA-based products. Using highly sensitive analytic equipment, not even a trace of BPA can be detected.”

Ultradent recently launched a website dedicated to BPA education. The website, https://www.ultrasealxt.com, is the host for frequently asked questions about bisphenol A (BPA) and its use in dental sealants. The tool is equipped with varied media, including podcasts, a children’s development corner, and information specific to UltraSeal XT plus.
