Charlestown, MA, July 01, 2012--( -- After almost 2 years in development, a new app called Tongue Chi for TMJ Treatment offers hope of long-lasting relief from the painful symptoms of habit-related TMJ (teeth clenching and grinding).

This smartphone and ipad app was created by Robert Esdale, a dentist with more than 35 years of experience. After overcoming his own TMJ issues caused by teeth grinding and clenching through a simple, holistic method, he worked tirelessly to create a universal solution that anyone can use. It requires no use of night guards nor expensive procedures. “People don't have to live with the pain of habit related TMJ any longer,” says Dr. Esdale.

TMJ or temporomandibular joint disease, is a painful condition that occurs as a result of problems with the jaw, jaw joint and surrounding facial muscles that control chewing and moving the jaw. TMJ can be caused by an injury to the jaw, or deterioration of the joint, but is often associated with grinding or clenching of the teeth. These common habits put excessive pressure on the temporomandibular joint and the surrounding muscles which can cause jaw pain, tooth wear, tooth sensitivity, broken or cracked teeth, and muscle spasms.

Dr. Esdale discovered how to use a natural reciprocal muscle response in a new way, so that by simply listening to a short recording, one can relax the jaw muscles. Tongue Chi TMJ Relief was developed as an easy, effective way for people to learn to relax their jaws and stop clenching and grinding their teeth, even while sleeping.

This inexpensive app can be played on a smartphone (Apple and Droid versions available) or iPad, and offers a non-invasive and relaxing approach to treating habit-related TMJ pain.

App can be downloaded at for Apple users and for Droid users.
