Sirona Dental Systems has expanded its material line by introducing inCoris TZI full-contour, translucent zirconia blocks. These blocks are indicated for full-contour crowns, bridges, and screw-retained implant crowns. Made of solid zirconia with no porcelain overlay, they are virtually chip-proof and are ideal for patients when porcelain-fused-to-metal (PFM) with metal occlusal or full-cast restorations are not an option. The new zirconia restorations have a flexural strength of 950 MPa (+/- 50) and because the material is made with a monolithic composition, the absence of layered materials makes the new zirconia blocks extremely strong and durable. Restorations created using the new inCoris TZI require minimum shoulder preparation and provide a perfect marginal fit, providing inLab users with another high-quality material choice to produce strong, esthetic restorations with lasting durability. inCoris TZI is made from one homogenous dental material, zirconia, which virtually eliminates the possibility of chipping. This extremely durable restoration material has rapidly gained popularity for posterior restorations when superior strength is required. Moreover, inCoris TZI can be used when the case requires under-reducing for any number of reasons. Previously, there have been very few options for these types of cases, with choices limited to a cast-gold crown or a PFM with metal occlusal. Sirona’s new inCoris TZI provides a more esthetically pleasing tooth-colored option for cases, such as those with limited interocclusal space.
