BISCO’s DUO-LINK UNIVERSAL

Bringing superior bonding to adhesive cementation

Adamo E. Notarantonio, DDS, FICOI, AAACD

It has been well documented that the proper management of the adhesive interface is critical for predictable placement of resins and indirect restorations. Although simplified systems are indeed easier and more convenient to use, there may be a trade off in long-term clinical effectiveness with some systems.1 With that in mind, BISCO created Duo-Link Universal, an adhesive cementation system designed for final cementation of all indirect restorations.

Duo-Link Universal has been precisely formulated to bond to all substrates with extremely high bond strengths. Its indications include crowns, bridges (fixed prostheses), onlays, inlays, and posts/dowels. Restorations can be fabricated from a variety of materials, including metal, composite, porcelain, ceramic, zirconia, and alumina. The chemistry is designed to allow for quick and easy removal of excess cement. The cement is highly radiopaque and can be easily identified on radiographs for quick and effective diagnosis. Duo-Link Universal is easy to use and comes in an auto-mix dual syringe that provides a consistent mix for immediate delivery.

The Duo-Link Universal Kit incorporates the superior bonding of All-Bond Universal® into its cementation system. The “less hydrophilic (more hydrophobic)” All-Bond Universal allows for a cured adhesive that is less permeable. If the adhesive layer is too hydrophilic, it will result in faster degradation due to hydrolysis, causing a failure in the adhesive bond and, in turn, the cementation process. All-Bond Universal is also compatible with slow-curing materials for direct and indirect restorations (film thickness <10 µm). All-Bond Universal also allows for the flexibility of using either the self-etch or total-etch/selective-etch techniques. The Duo-Link Universal Kit also includes Z-Prime Plus, a unique zirconia, alumina, and metal primer. A strong bond to ceramics relies on micromechanical interlocking to the ceramic surface, coupled with chemical adhesion to exposed hydroxyl group, which Z-Prime Plus provides.2

Cementation of an indirect restoration is the final prosthetic step that begins with impeccable tooth preparation, accurate impression taking, meticulous provisionalization, functional and artistic lab work, and finally, occlusal and proximal contact adjustments. BISCO’s Duo-Link Universal Kit is perfect for reliable, high-strength cementation with easy clean-up. Its high, consistent degree of conversion in both self-cured and light-cured modes is essential for today’s stronger restorations. In addition to its superior bond strengths, Duo-Link Universal has low film thickness to allow for effective seating, is very easy to clean-up, and offers diagnostic radiopacity for that perfect margin.
