Keynote Speakers

Jocelyne S. Feine, DDS, MS, HDR, FCAHS
Jocelyne Feine is Professor in the Faculty of Dentistry and Associate Member in the Department of Oncology, Faculty of Medicine, McGill University, Canada. She is recipient of the ADA Norton Ross Award in Clinical Research, the IADR Distinguished Scientist Award and the IADR Service Award; she is also Editor-in-Chief of the JDR Clinical and Translational Research (JDR CTR). 
     Professor Feine is a recognized world leader in the assessment of therapies for chronic orofacial conditions, particularly pain and tooth loss. Her national and international studies emphasize the quality of life and patient-based outcomes most relevant for therapeutic goals. A proponent of interdisciplinary research, Professor Feine works with expert teams of local and international collaborators in relevant fields. The manuscripts produced from these studies have been published in high quality, peer-reviewed international dental and medical journals. Professor Feine’s work has been presented to university and professional audiences worldwide.

Charles Goodacre, DDS, MSD, FACP Co-presenter
Dr. Goodacre was Chair of the Department of Prosthodontics at Indiana University and served as Dean of the Loma Linda University School of Dentistry from 1994 to 2013. Dr. Goodacre was an editor of the International Journal of Prosthodontics and is a founding board member of the Foundation for Oral Rehabilitation (FOR.org). He has been extensively involved in the development of interactive, navigable electronic education programs on topics such as “3D Tooth Atlas”, “3D Cranial Nerves and Brain Stem” and “Oral Cancer Screening”. Dr. Goodacre is currently a Diplomate of the American Board of Prosthodontics and past president of the Academy of Prosthodontics, the American College of Prosthodontics and the American Board of Prosthodontics.

Brian J. Goodacre, DDS Co-presenter 
Dr. Brian J. Goodacre received his DDS degree from Loma Linda University School of Dentistry in 2013.  He is currently an assistant professor and graduate student in the combined program in prosthodontics and implant dentistry at Loma Linda University School of Dentistry.

Valerie Cooper, DDS, MS
Dr. Valerie Cooper is a private practice prosthodontist with a passion for dentures. She shares the story of how her practice evolved from providing conventional dentures only to making almost exclusively digital dentures beginning more than two years ago. She not only shares her techniques, but also reports historical data from her two practices and multiple providers about the change in number of appointments and clinical benefits of a fully digital process for dentures. By presenting her convincing data of more than 300 digital dentures in combination with important tips and tricks, this session is a must for all dental professionals who seek experience and  first hand insights, to better understand the how and why of digital dentures. Dr. Cooper highlights the importance of establishing standardized processed in the office involving the entire team, with the goal to offer quick and satisfying removable dentures to her patients.

Lee Culp, CDT
Lee Culp, CDT, is the CEO of Sculpture Studios, a dental laboratory, education and, research and product development center, for new and innovative digital dental technologies, and their applied applications to diagnostic, restorative and surgical dentistry.
     He is a pioneer in the use Digital Dentistry, and leading resource/inventor for many of the materials, products, and techniques used in dentistry today, and holds numerous patents for his ideas and products.  Lee writes many articles per year, and his writing, photography, and teaching style have brought him international recognition, as one of today’s most exciting lecturers and innovative artisans in the specialty of digital dentistry, dental ceramics and functional esthetics. 

Rune Fisker, PhD, MBA
Rune is a key creator and driver of 3Shape’s solution-orientated innovations and fills his presentations with concrete CAD/CAM technology methods and his vision of the future “Digital Dentistry”. Rune has been with 3Shape since its beginnings. Today he is global responsible for the TRIOS restorative, Implantology and Dental lab business. He holds a Ph.D. from Denmark's Technical University and an executive MBA from Copenhagen Business School.

Andy Jakson
Mr. Jakson brings over 25 years of experience to the dental field, focusing on the digital workflows and new hybrid production methods for the digital age. Jakson is not just a successful dental lab technician, inventor, scientist and entrepreneur, but also co-developed the First Mini Dental Implant protocols, and was the former VP, Director of Clinical Development for Global Dental Science – the innovators of Avadent Digital Dentures, the 2012 ADA Product of the Year. Today, Jakson is the President of Evolution Dental Science, a Full Service Laboratory, a dental workflow solutions company called Evolve Dentistry, and manages a chain of dental clinics called Lif Dental. Jakson has lectured, advised, and coached industry leaders including 3M, Ivolcar Vivadent, and Imtec Corporation to promote their technical innovation in the dental marketplace. In 2015 Jakson was awarded the Business First Top CEO for Health Care in Western New York. His intense understanding of the dental industry has made Mr. Jakson a vital resource for insight on “best practices” for Digital Dentistry.  He is a proud alumna of the Harkness Career& Technical Center, Erie Community College and Canisuis College.

Justin S. Marks, CDT
 
Justin Marks, CDT is the CEO of Arfona LLC, a startup specializing in digital manufacturing methods for dental prosthetics. He is also the owner of Master-Touch Dental Lab in Brooklyn, New York. An accomplished dental technician, educator and lab owner, Justin has lectured and taught courses on removable prosthodontics in more than 40 countries around the world. He is an expert in flexible partial denture materials and applications and a pioneer in the field of digital dentures and partials. Since 2008 Justin has dedicated most of his career to applying computer aided design and 3D printing technologies to removable prosthodontics and is credited with the invention of the world’s first 3D printed Valplast partial denture. Justin graduated Summa Cum Laude from Pace University and holds a BBA in marketing and management.

Christopher Phelps, DMD, CMCT
Dr. Phelps is an entrepreneur, author, lecturer, and general dentistry in Charlotte, NC. He is a member of the ADA, AGD, and ICOI. In 2014, he achieved the title of Cialdini Method Certified Teacher, CMCT, from Dr. Robert Cialdini for his skills in the science of influence and ethical persuasion. Dr. Phelps is also owner and president of Call Tracker ROI and the Golden Goose scheduling services, as well as The Phelps Institute for dental business and clinical training. 

Alexander Wünsche, CDT
Alexander Wünsche, CDT, is the President of Zahntechnique Dental Laboratory. Alexander attended the Otto Umfried school of dental technology in Nuertingen, Germany and attained accreditation as a CDT in Friedrichshafen, Germany. After graduation, he traveled to Ravensburg, Germany and began working with high-end laboratories who focused on implant and all-ceramic restorations. Today, Alexander specializes in ceramics and complex CAD/CAM restorations. He has been published in industry journals such as Inside Dental Technology (IDT), The Journal of Dental Technology (JDT) and Lab Management Today (LMT). Alexander speaks at regional and national meetings regarding innovations in dental technology.

Workshop Leaders

Michael Anger, MDT
Michael Anger is a Master Dental Technician, owner of Dental Laboratory Michael Anger and the Milling Center MA CAD CAM Service UG. He is a renowned expert in the fields of fixed, removable, implant supported and CAD CAM dental technology.  As certified member of the German association for implantology (DGZI) he has been honored to be one of only two dental technicians to receive a certification from this global dental association including its sister associations. He cooperated with several research projects of German Universities, has given various lectures and trainings and frequently publishes professional articles in German dental magazines.
     Michael has grown his laboratory and milling center to be a recognized center in CAD CAM prosthetics. In addition to his day-to-day job, Michael launched in 2014 the leading eLearning platform and international training center for dental technicians in Germany, Dentalligent.

Scott Atkin, RMDT
Scott Atkin, RMDT, is a co-founder and Chief Technology and Materials Officer at Digital Dental in Scottsdale Arizona. He has a Dentistry Degree plus a Master’s Degree as a Registered Master Dental Technician from the Royal Hospital of London.  As a lab owner for nearly 40 years, Scott pioneered zirconia as a dental material in the U.S., and has the distinction of having created the very first CAD/CAM solid zirconia crown ever.  In recent years, Scott developed new materials and innovative techniques for creating hybrid implant dentures, and groundbreaking new methods for digitally fabricating one-step removable dentures.

Stephen F. Balshi, MBE
Stephen F. Balshi, MBE, received his undergraduate degree in Biomedical Engineering from the Catholic University of America, Washington, DC. He was awarded a Master’s Degree at the School of Biomedical Engineering, Science and Health Systems at Drexel University, Philadelphia, PA with a published thesis on the stability of Brånemark implants and immediate function.
     Stephen is the President of CM Prosthetics Inc., a dental laboratory that focuses on the rehabilitation of the fully edentulous, utilizing state-of-the-art CAD/CAM technology. He is also the Director of Research for PI Dental Center at the Institute for Facial Esthetics. He has been published in numerous refereed journals and has lectured at national and international meetings on immediate function, computer guided surgery, and the CM Prosthetics line of fully edentulous restorations.

Bill Barton, MM, BS, CDT, TE 
Bill Barton is a Technical Consultant for Ivoclar Vivadent, Inc. Bill is a dental laboratory technician, manager and educator with over 35 years’ experience in the industry.  He served 25 years in the United States Air Force prior to joining the Ivoclar Vivadent Technical Services Department in 2009. His extensive technical background includes experience in all phases of fixed and removable prosthodontics.  Bill’s role within the Technical Services Department is to provide unsurpassed customer support, lead training/education programs at Ivoclar’s International Centers for Dental Education, and perform in-depth product testing.  

Dwight Blair
Dwight Blair is the Dental Product Manager for Irvine, California-based Roland DGA Corporation, a leading provider of advanced dental milling machines and other innovative digital devices. Prior to joining Roland, Blair served as a Production Supervisor/Technical Advisor at Glidewell Laboratories in Newport Beach, California. His dental industry background also included years of experience with crown & bridge, partial, denture, and sleep apnea prosthesis.

Jim Collis, CDT

Jim Collis, CDT, has been a Digital Design Expert for Solvay Dental 360, Certified Dental Technician for 40 years, Degree in Science and Dental Technology from Triton College, Previously a Dental Lab Owner and Technician for 40 years, Laboratory Instructor at Northwestern Dental School for 10 years, Visiting Instructor at Harvard Dental School, Educational Board for the National Denturist School, and Advisory Board Member for Spectrum Dialogue.

Michael Foley, DDS
Michael Foley, DDS, is a renowned aesthetic dentist based in upscale Scottsdale, AZ. He has been voted by peers as a Top Dentist in Phoenix, and recognized multiple times as one of the Top Dentists in America. He received his Doctorate in Dental Surgery from the Baylor University College of Dentistry, and he is a student of the Pankey Institute, the Dawson Institute, and the American Academy of Fixed Prosthodontists. In addition, he is an Adjunct Clinical Professor at Midwestern Dental School in Phoenix. Today, Dr. Foley spends most of his time training new dentists and leading clinics and lectures on new materials and technologies in dentistry.  As an honorary lifetime member of the American Dental Association and Arizona Dental Association, Dr. Foley is also engaged in volunteering his services for the disadvantaged.

Andrew Johnston, CDT
Andrew Johnston worked as a full time dental technician from 1996 to 2014 for a dental laboratory in Spokane, WA. He became a Certified Dental Technician in the Specialty of Complete Dentures in 2008. Andrew has had the privilege of serving on the Washington State Dental Laboratory Association’s Board of Directors from 2010 to 2014. He stepped away from the Board in 2014 to pursue a job in the Midwest as a Laboratory Technician Trainer for Aspen Dental. He quickly rose through the ranks at Aspen and became the Field Laboratory Operations Supervisor for the Pacific NW and the Midwest regions. Andrew was up for an internal promotion with Aspen when a new opportunity presented itself with his current company Kulzer. Andrew went to work for Kulzer in January of 2016 and holds the current position of Territory Manager of Labs in the Pacific NW. He speaks at various events around the US and is involved in the product improvement and training at Kulzer. 

Friedhelm Kingenburg, MBA
Friedhelm Klingenburg, MBA, is CEO of Merz Dental GmbH, Germany. He is the inventor of Merz’s digital solution for dentures “BDS – Baltic Denture System.”  




Guillermo J. Molina, DDS
Dr. Molina received his dental degree from the University of Maryland in 1990 and then entered directly into their prosthodontics program, where he received his Certificate in Prosthodontics.  After finishing his education, Dr. Molina was hired by a large prosthodontics practice in Washington, D.C. where he also worked with the research and development department of a dental implant company to help create new parts, clinical techniques, and laboratory procedures.

Craig Nelson, AAS, CDT
Craig studied commercial art at Utah College; he obtained an Associate of Applied Sciences in Dental Laboratory Technology, at Texas College in Waco Texas and opened his first laboratory with Dr Jack Woolsey in Phoenix Arizona upon graduation. He has owned a laboratory and provided full service for 38 years. Craig has studied with many of the world’s renowned technicians and dentists. His passion for dentistry has led to opportunities to share this excitement with fellow technicians and dentists in North and South America as well as Asia, teaching Ceramic, composite and denture techniques. He has taught courses in implant over-dentures at USC and has presented at the 2011 scientific session of the AACD. Craig presented with Joe Massad at the ADA meeting in 2013. He owned a dental practice in Chandler Arizona where he employed a full staff to include a Dentist and Hygienist. Craig was made a fellow in the International Academy For Dental-Facial Esthetics in 2014. He defiantly has a full perspective on modern dentistry from a laboratory and provider point of view. Currently Craig is the Senior Technical Manager of Scientific and clinical affairs with Heraeus-Kulzer

Frank Poerschke, CDT, MDT
Frank Poerschke, CDT, MDT, is an author, lecturer, and lab owner in Bad Ems, Germany. He is a certified TiF®Trainer and specialist for individualized full dentures. Frank is also Lecturer for the setup philosophy according to Gerber at the master dental technician school in Trier (Germany).


Matthew Veins

Matthew started out with the CAP Team in 2010 as a scan technician. He worked his way through the production side of CAP acquiring his skills and knowledge of various CAD and CAM systems. His first-hand experience with troubleshooting issues with the scanning, designing, and milling software and hardware gives him an advantage as a part of the High Tech Support Team at CAP. Matthew has also been a large part of the Digital Training and Education team as a Presenter for both the basic and advanced courses.

CDEWorld reserves the right to close registration when an enrollment limit is reached and to cancel, modify, or alter content or speakers for any course if circumstances necessitate such a change. If we find it necessary to cancel a course, a full refund will be granted. All attempts to contact registrants will be made as soon as possible in the event of a course cancellation. 

In the event of inclement weather (such as a snow emergency) or other extenuating circumstances, CDEWorld may be forced to cancel a course. If a course has been cancelled, we will contact participants by the phone number and/or email address provided. A full 100% refund will be granted to those cancelling (by telephone or email) two weeks (October 13, 2017) or more in advance of the event.
