Free CE Course on Esthetics Available at University of Maryland

Posted on Wednesday, October 9, 2013

The University of Maryland School of Dentistry is offering a complimentary continuing education (CE) course titled “New Technologies in Esthetic Integration.” Part of the UMSOD’s Stephen E. and Jeffrey A. Kleiman Lecture program, the course will be held on Thursday, May 31, 4 p.m. at the School of Dentistry, Room G-205. A reception will follow.

Keith Progebin, DDS, will be the presenter. Dr. Progebin is a former associate clinical instructor in the Department of Prosthodontics and Occlusion at UMSOD. He has lectured extensively on implants to national and international audiences.

Course description: The use of dental implants to restore function and esthetics following the loss of teeth has been well demonstrated. As high implant survival and success rates have been reported, the esthetic outcome has become the main focus of interest in esthetically sensitive areas. The prosthetic reconstruction should imitate the appearance of the natural teeth. Clinical cases will illustrate a stepwise approach of regenerative materials for site development and the realistic use of guided surgery for planning and provisionalization. The ultimate in esthetics, all ceramic abutments and crowns will be discussed, along with their challenges. The latest technology will be presented, as well as a virtual CAD/CAM abutment that can achieve natural root replacement contours.

1.5 CE credits will be available to dental healthcare workers who attend the lecture.

Please RSVP by May 15 to Megan Moorefield at 410-706-7146 or mmoorefield@umaryland.edu.
