Diversionary Therapy Announces First Sale of ditto™ dental

Posted on Wednesday, October 9, 2013

NEW YORK, May 22, 2012 /PRNewswire/ -- Diversionary Therapy Technologies (DTT) is pleased to announce the first sale of its innovative new product, ditto™ dental, to Manhattan Pediatric Dental Group PC.   "We're excited to add ditto dental to our state-of-the-art pediatric dental care.  We trialed it in our office and had spectacular results," states Dr. Mark Hochberg, principal, of Manhattan Pediatric Dental Group.

ditto™ dental is a clinical tool developed from medical research which has been shown to reduce anxiety and stress for children aged 3-14 years. The procedural stories, covering all dental procedures, are chosen from the dentist menu to help prepare the children and their families for their treatment. By showing the videos before the procedure, treatment times have been shortened, anxiety reduced and better overall patient outcomes have resulted.  The portable device uses augmented reality, a multi-modal sensory-based distraction medium to engage children.  The user interface has other fun tangible interaction thanks to the touch screen and the motion sensors and can be used in a variety of positions.

Dr. Hochberg also added, "Taking your child to the dentist can be a very stressful experience for some children. It is important for us to be able to manage the child and reduce their apprehension during pediatric dental procedures.  We have purchased several devices because we found that showing the ditto™ dental pre-procedural videos helped relieve anxiety and lead to a better patient outcome."

The console also includes interactive games and immersive stories to engage the patient while waiting for procedures.  Pediatric dentists, orthodontists, child life specialists and animation experts have developed the ditto™ dental over the past couple of years and new content will continue to be added.

DTT will formally debut the ditto™ dental at the American Academy of Pediatric Dentistry 65th Annual Session in San Diego May 24-27. "We're looking forward to showing our device to over 2500 of the leading pediatric dentists in the United States.  We've had great feedback so far and it should be an exciting experience," say Steven Jenkins, CEO of DTT's North American operations.
