Dominick DePaola, DDS, PhD has joined the Foundation Board of Directors of the Organization for Safety, Asepsis and Prevention (OSAP). Dr. DePaola has a distinguished career in oral healthcare, recently retiring from the position of President and CEO of The Forsyth Institute in Boston. He has been named President Emeritus of Forsyth by the Board of Trustees. Currently, Dr. DePaola is Professor and Academic Dean at Nova Southeastern University College of Dental Medicine in Fort Lauderdale, senior consultant with the Academy for Academic Leadership and is the President of the Santa Fe Group, the nation’s think tank for innovations to improve health and well-being.

Dr. DePaola has published over 80 scholarly articles and chapters in textbooks, in addition to editing two texts. He has also presented over 1,000 invited national and international lectures, seminars and special education courses at universities, foundations, private corporations, professional organizations, and governmental agencies, including the National Institutes of Health. Dr. DePaola has been recognized as a major contributor to the oral healthcare profession through a prodigious number of awards and honors and will be an excellent ambassador to the OSAP Foundation.

Margaret (Peggy) Cottrell has also joined the OSAP Foundation Board after serving with distinction on OSAP’s Association Board. Cottrell is currently the CEO of ProEdge Dental Products, Inc., a privately held manufacturer and distributor of infection control products and services with applications in the healthcare industry.

Cottrell has more than 30 years of successful business ownership, executive management and strategic experience. She also serves as Vice Chair of Oral Health America, a 57-year-old national non-profit organization devoted to improving public health by eliminating oral disease, especially for the most vulnerable citizens and those without access to care.

Cottrell continues to promote the mission of OSAP to be the world’s leading advocate for safe and infection-free delivery of oral healthcare and pledges to work hard through her new role on the Foundation Board to amplify and expand OSAP’s efforts by raising funds from healthcare industry, foundations and the public sector.

Leann Keefer has been unanimously elected to replace Cottrell on OSAP’s Association Board. Keefer is Crosstex International’s general manager of the biological monitoring facility in Denver, and director of education for the corporation. Before moving to Crosstex, she served as manager of professional relations and education for Dentsply Professional. She is a member of OSAP’s editorial review board, co-chairman of the organization’s Annual Symposium, was a site visitor for the ADA Commission on Dental Accreditation, and serves on various foundation and publication boards in the United States and Canada.
