5th Annual Ethics and Legal Aspects of Dentistry Conference Announced

August 17, 2012—(Las Vegas, NV)—The 5th Annual Ethics and Legal Aspects of Dentistry Conference, sponsored by the American College of Legal Medicine (ACLM), will be held February 21-24, 2013, at the Planet Hollywood Resort in Las Vegas, NV.  Dentists, physicians, attorneys, and other health related individuals are expected to attend the annual ACLM conference, with the theme focusing on current and proposed laws affecting health care in medicine and dentistry.

The program of the annual meeting of ACLM, officially titled "Law, Medicine and Your Professional Practice," will include a concurrent session on Friday, February 22, 2013, titled "Ethical and Legal Aspects of Dentistry." National and international speakers, including Deans of renowned dental schools and faculty professors, will discuss issues relating to ethics, laws, and art and science of dental practice.

Topics of interest will include: The Ethics of Prescribing Antibiotics, Patient Abuse, Anesthesiology in Dentistry, Communication Issues within the Dental Field, the Risks of Social Media, and Issues with Failure to Diagnose Various Oral Problems. Additional presentations will be in the following categories: Legal Issues within Dentistry and the Understanding of the Government's Role and the Role of Dental Education; Ethical, Moral, and Diagnostic Issues as they Relate to the Dental Practice; The Evolution of Risk Management Considerations; Identification of Issues Relating to Patient Care; Access to Care, and Dental Health Care Coverage; The Current Landscape for Malpractice; and The Changing of Paradigms within Clinical Dentistry.

The Ethics and Legal Aspects of Dentistry conference is intended to keep its membership current and informed of new issues that arise. Its focus is on risk management and legal aspects, rather than clinical issues. The conference also serves as an annual refresher course on education, ethics, and management.
