Tampa, FL (PRWEB) June 15, 2012
The Southern Maryland Mission of Mercy clinic provides dental services ranging from preventative dentistry and cleanings, to restorative fillings and extractions. This years' clinic will be held on June 22-23 at Chopticon High School in Morganza, MD. The Professional Protector Plan® for Dentists recognizes the extreme need of these services and is committed to the success of such events.
The ADCF MOM website provides more information, including links to local MOM events, how you can make a financial donation or register to volunteer your services online.
Understanding that many people and families today have difficulty affording dental services, Mission of Mercy events provide a “no questions asked” care to those in need. According to the American Dental Association, dental disease is almost entirely preventable and oral health is just as important as the health of the rest of your body. Untreated dental disease can lead to serious health problems such as infection, damage to bone or nerve, and tooth loss. Infection from tooth disease can even spread to other parts of the body and in rare cases, can lead to death.
Kristin Garrison, National Marketing Manager for the Professional Protector Plan® for Dentists, who will be volunteering at the Southern Maryland MOM event stated, “We are honored to be involved with the Missions of Mercy this year. Our team is excited about getting to know the local community and giving to such a worthy cause.“
The Professional Protector Plan for Dentists will also contribute and volunteer time at the Wisconsin Dental Association’s Mission of Mercy, Nebraska Dental Association’s Mission of Mercy, Iowa Dental Association’s Mission of Mercy, Central Arizona’s Inaugural Mission of Mercy.
Dental Missions of Mercy events have donated dental services to indigent patients for over a decade. The first dental MOM was held in Virginia, July 2000. MOM events are now held in 17 states and are usually sponsored by state or local dental societies. Over the course of its history, 100,000+ patients have been treated, and over $50 million of donated dental services have been provided by caring dental professionals.
