CT Scans Increase Children’s Cancer Risk, Study Finds

The New York Times health/science blog reports that a new study finds that CT scans in children can cause small but significant increases in the risk of leukemia and brain cancer. The researchers say the results do not mean that CT scans, which can be vitally important, should be avoided entirely but that they should be performed only when necessary, and with the lowest possible dose of radiation.
