Africa Receives Needed Humanitarian Dental Relief

Posted on Wednesday, October 9, 2013

Newport Beach, CA (PRWEB) June 04, 2012 -- Dr. Sherri Worth, a nationally recognized dentist known for excellence in cosmetic and restorative dentistry, recently provided more than 300 toothbrushes to children in Tanzania as part of her ongoing efforts to provide medical relief to those in different parts of Africa. The donations were sent to various organizations for immediate distribution and included the Mbahe Primary School, Huruma Hospital, and Light in Africa (a non-profit which cares for sick, abandoned and handicapped children in Africa).

Tanzania, a country on the eastern coast of Africa, has a continuing need for dental and medical assistance. When asked about the current dental conditions there she replied, “Dentistry doesn’t really exist. There isn’t much in the way of health care or dentistry. We wanted to help by providing children with some basics for personal dental care at home.”

Dr. Worth later continued, “Their [dental] needs include general hygiene, education on home care, fillings, extractions and more…but again, our goal in providing toothbrushes is to help make a positive difference at a personal and fundamental level.”

This isn’t the first time that Dr. Worth has helped provide humanitarian assistance in Africa. On more than one occasion she has donated dental textbooks and manuals to Northrise University, a Christian school in Zambia, as a way of expanding educational resources for medical professionals and staff. She has additionally given financial assistance to further the dental and medical care facilities at the University. “I love doing it. I love helping out.” she concluded.
