iPad App Lets Dentists, Patients Create the Perfect Smile

Coral Springs, FL (PRWEB) May 27, 2012 -- Patients who are planning to spend thousands of dollars on a “smile makeover” want to ensure that their investment in cosmetic dentistry will deliver a high return in improved self-esteem. Dentists often rely on printed “smile guides” to show patients different tooth shapes and help them define their preferences. Still, many patients find it difficult to recognize subtle differences in the tooth variations or describe exactly what they want. Now, the newly released Smile Guide Touch mobile application for the iPad offers a helpful, interactive tool to design the perfect smile with the exact features that the patient desires.

Created by Digident, LLC founder David L. Traub, DMD, a South Florida cosmetic dentist, and developed by Dallas-based GWHQ Productions, LLC, Smile Guide Touch lets dentists compose the ideal smile using the patient’s descriptions of their preferred tooth shape and smile line character. With a simple touch of the screen, the user can modify the shape and length of the teeth, as high-resolution photographs clearly display the subtle variances. As the features change, the patient’s selections guide the evolution of the smile design, creating a blueprint for the shape and smile line of the teeth.

“Defining the patient’s preferences before treatment begins can minimize time consuming, uncomfortable, and costly remakes,” says Dr. Traub, who has more than 30 years’ experience in cosmetic dentistry. By helping patients visualize the goals of treatment before bur touches tooth, the Smile Guide Touch mobile app can improve both patient satisfaction and profitability for the dental practice, Dr. Traub notes.

Once the patient has finalized their desired smile design, the dentist can create a virtual Rx to send to the lab and provide to the patient. The Rx can be printed from the app or sent via email as a PDF with a photo of the desired tooth shapes and details about the selected Smile Design Code, providing detailed directives for the chosen smile design as a guide for wax-ups, provisionals, and final ceramics.

The Smile Guide Touch app for the iPad is available in the Apple iTunes store for $249.99. For more information, visit https://www.smileguidetouch.com/
