Imaging System Manufacturer to Address Radiation Issue at CDA Meeting

Posted on Wednesday, October 9, 2013

Earlier this month, the Journal Cancer published controversial findings linking dental x-rays to cancer. This followed a 2010 New York Times article that also made some claims about the use, or overuse, of 3D cone beam imaging systems, and their association with a higher risk of cancer.

After the Times article was published, PlanmecaUSA, maker of 3D cone beam imaging systems, responded with credible information about ways to reduce risk from radiation. The company pointed out that its products are designed to help dentists use as little radiation as possible to create the appropriate diagnostic image for the patient. Similarly, in response to this new report, PlanmecaUSA relishes the opportunity the upcoming California Dental Association meeting provides to talk to dentists and the public about ways to reduce risk and concerns about potential risk of cancer from dental imaging.

To equip its sales force, customers, and the public with regard to this concern, PlanmecaUSA has issued the following statement: https://www.pitchengine.com/cmpr/california-dental-association-convention-exhibitor-planmecausa-seeks-ways-to-reduce-radiation-exposure. The company will be at booth #352 at the CDA meeting and invites attendees to stop by and speak with a PlanmecaUSA representative about how the company's imaging units provide a safe approach to imaging.
