Vote For Your Favorite “Smile Story” and Help Change a Life!
Posted on June 11, 2014
MADISON, Wis. (6/11/14)—Starting June 11, the public will have the chance to pick their favorite “smile story” and help change the life of someone in need though the “Smile Story Contest” presented by the American Academy of Cosmetic Dentistry (AACD).
The contest will give up to five finalists a new smile, valued at up to $20,000, through makeovers with AACD member dentists and laboratory technicians. AACD launched the contest in April, and asked contestants to submit a photo and a written submission explaining why they would love a smile makeover. The entries will appear on www.yoursmilebecomesyou.com for public voting. Up to 20 entrants will be selected as semi-finalists, based on the total number of votes received from the public. A panel of judges selected by the AACD will then determine up to five grand-prize winners.
Once the finalists have been chosen, AACD member dentists and laboratory technicians will help give the winners the smiles of their dreams—rewriting each patient’s smile story. Winners will be announced in September 2014, with a makeover reveal at AACD’s annual meeting, AACD 2015 in San Francisco, May 6-9.
“Recent AACD research has shown that the smile is one’s most important social asset,” said Barb Kachelski, AACD Executive Director. “Through the ‘Smile Story Contest’, we are not only changing patients’ lives, but we’re also spreading awareness about the benefits of cosmetic dentistry. Having a beautiful smile can instantly boost one’s self-esteem, resulting in job, relationship, and other personal successes.”
Entrants had until June 10 to submit their smile story, while the public can vote for their favorite stories until June 30. Contest entrants are able to promote their “Smile Story” through social media to inspire others to vote for their entry.
The “Smile Story Contest” is sponsored by Ivoclar Vivadent’s “Smile to the Max” product.
