Improve Gingival Esthetics

Beautifil II Gingiva-Colored Direct Resin Composites

• Optically improve the appearance of gingival recession
• Predictably bond to dentin, enamel, ceramics, and metal substrates
• Custom shade-match any type of soft-tissue topography
• Maintain stable oral environment with bioactive Giomer chemistry

Matching gingival and tooth proportions to attain esthetic balance with surgical procedures can be challenging to a clinician, time-consuming, and requires lengthy healing for a patient. Increasing awareness of the importance of gingival and smile esthetics has resulted in the development of new techniques aimed at revitalizing these characteristics in a conservative, less costly, and more efficient treatment.

A relatively new esthetic and functional alternative to surgical and prosthetic perspectives is the use of direct resin composites in gingival shades to integrate with adjacent soft tissues.

A highly filled (83 wt%), bioactive, nanohybrid resin composite with enhanced handling properties and clinically-proven giomer chemistry, Beautifil II Gingiva, provides general practitioners with the means to optically improve gingival esthetics in the operatory, thus simplifying and reducing the time and cost of treatment.

Five gingival shades of Beautifil II can be coalesced to custom shade-match any type of soft-tissue topography. The material can be predictably bonded to dentin, enamel, ceramics, and metal substrates. Optimal viscosity facilitates simplified modeling with standard shaping tools or freehand modeling for a more creative approach. A complete restoration can be finished and polished with Super-Snap X-Treme disks to achieve life-like results.

Beautifil II Gingiva can be used by clinicians chairside to camouflage the exposed implant abutments and crown and bridge margins, to repair and re-contour the gingival portion of indirect restorations, to modify the esthetics of provisional restorations, and to improve soft-tissue appearance in denture patients by revitalizing a worn or fractured denture.

This versatile system incorporates a proprietary giomer chemistry that facilitates release and recharge of fluoride, strontium, and other beneficial ions, providing the ability to inhibit plaque formation and establish a stable pH in the oral environment, thus decreasing the risk for secondary caries.

Restoring a defective environment inside the esthetic zone will always pose clinical challenges. While surgical treatments can be successful in recreating esthetic anatomy, factors such as discomfort, healing time, and cost make the surgery an unpopular solution. A new approach to treating class V lesions and overcoming the problems with gingival recession are gingiva-colored direct composites with bioactive attributes and improved physical, mechanical, and esthetic properties. These functional materials allow general practitioners to offer treatment options that can increase patient satisfaction through the provision of a cost-effective, minimally invasive treatment that can deliver highly esthetic results.
