Irritrol Two-in-One Endodontic Irrigation Solution

Irrigate, clean, and rapidly disinfect in one step

Figure 1 | Irritrol from Essential Dental Systems is a single-step, disinfecting endodontic irrigation solution that is used as a final rinse after sodium hypochlorite (NaOCL). Irritrol effectively irrigates and rapidly disinfects the root canal, removing germs that cause infection and aiding in successful root canal treatment. It efficiently removes the smear layer less aggressively than ethylenediaminetetraacetic acid (EDTA), causing less demineralization of the dentin. This can help reduce postoperative sensitivity, making procedures more comfortable for patients.

Irritrol was developed because practitioners needed an irrigant that could effectively disinfect canals and remove the smear layer in a single step, thus saving time while improving the efficiency of endodontic treatment. Irritrol meets these needs and allows clinicians to work faster, smarter, and more cost-effectively.

Irritrol is easy to use and incorporate into an endodontic workflow. After endodontic instrumentation, rinse the canal with NaOCL. Next rinse the NaOCL out of the canal with sterile water or an anesthetic solution. Place Irritrol in syringe and continuously irrigate the canal for 60 to 90 seconds. Its single blend of irrigants and surfactants provides reduced surface tension that allows it to easily flow into the dentinal tubules. Irritrol’s green color ensures that dentists and dental assistants can easily identify its presence during root canal procedures. Finally, dry and obturate the canal.

This pre-mixed irrigation solution is available immediately through dental dealers worldwide. For more information on Irritrol, visit www.edsdental.com or call 201-487-9090.

Highlights

  • Independent testing showed Irritrol had a disinfection rate of 99.9%.*
  • Irrigates and disinfects the root canal in one step
  • Removes smear layer less aggressively than conventional irrigants, causing less dentin demineralization*
  • Disinfects against Enterococcus faecalis better than 2% chlorhexidine (CHX) alone*
  • Save time and money vs. using EDTA and CHX sequentially
  • Green color ensures easy identification

Testimonial

“Irritrol effectively cleans and disinfects the root canal system without adversely affecting dentin or the sealing ability of filling materials. Elimination of microorganisms from infected root canals can be a difficult task; however, this new irrigant provides peace of mind with its exemplary disinfecting power and smear layer removal all in one single step, assuring successful endodontic treatment.”
