Dear Colleague,

As a result of recent advancements in periodontology, both in innovative surgical techniques and developments in dental implant surface technology and design, dental professionals, such as yourself, now have an expanded array of treatment options. These efforts have led to the ability to make a significant difference in the well being of your patients by allowing them to lead healthier and more satisfying lives. At Nobel Biocare, we continue to remain dedicated to providing safe and effective solutions, backed by scientific evidence as demonstrated by our 45-year corporate heritage of documented clinical research.

A key aspect of this success has been the professional relationships that we have developed with leading educators, researchers, and clinicians from the American Academy of Periodontology (AAP). The AAP has always played a pivotal role in the efforts to eradicate edentulism by promoting patient access to evidence-based dental solutions. We at Nobel Biocare are honored to be able to support these achievements through our partnership with organizations, such as the AAP, in our combined efforts to promote dental education, scientific research, and innovative product development.

To that end, Nobel Biocare was pleased to support this monograph on the proceedings from the AAP Spring Conference: The Restorative Dentist/Periodontist Partnership: Achieving Excellence Together as an outstanding example of sharing clinical knowledge and fostering communication in oral healthcare. This supplement to Compendium of Continuing Education in Dentistry offers an opportunity for Nobel Biocare to promote the considerable efforts of the members of the AAP and to recognize the strides this specialty has made and will continue to make in the discipline of osseointegration. The value of this scientific conference, and the insights and advancements explored during it, will be further magnified once the findings are shared with a broader audience within the dental profession.

During the past two years, the executive management team at Nobel Biocare has undergone some change. Under the leadership of our former North American Presidents, William Ryan and Melker Nilsson, the company has returned to its cultural roots and rededicated itself to the historically validated concept of the treatment team: the surgical specialist, the restorative dentist, and the dental laboratory. This focus continues to be the core strategy of our current North American management team with continued support and guidance from Bill and Melker. Our goal is to be your preferred partner in sciencebased solutions, practice-development tools, as well as those additional resources necessary to enhance the well being of your patients. With that in mind, we will continue to partner with the AAP and its members to further the goals of this conference—Achieving Excellence Together!
