Volume 30, Issue 1

From the Co-Editor

John C. Kois, DMD, MSD

Dear Readers,

From its inception more than 30 years ago, Compendium of Continuing Education in Dentistry has continued to educate and inspire the profession. Its cutting-edge, peer-reviewed articles and innovative style continue to focus on comprehensive, state-of-the-art dental healthcare.

It is with sincere pleasure and great excitement that I join Dr. Louis F. Rose as co-editor-in-chief of Compendium. We plan to develop the next step in the evolution of this journal by merging Compendium with the best attributes of Functional Esthetics and Restorative Dentistry.

In addition to the usual in-depth articles that have been responsible for the previous success of Compendium, we have planned new features that will expand the reach and scope of the journal. In the style of Functional Esthetics, four thematic issues per year will cover some of the most challenging clinical concerns for our readers. Patient case presentations will provide in-depth documentation to connect all the links from the diagnosis to the completed treatment. There also will be learning guides for developing clinical skills, practice growth, and state-of-the-art patient care.

Additionally, the non-thematic issues of Compendium will now feature regular columns focused on oral-systemic medicine, global communication, and functional esthetics. Of course, every issue of Compendium will continue to offer the best continuing education articles in the field, and our outstanding review board will continue to provide responsible judgment to as sure the consistently superlative quality of our journal.

I hope you enjoy the new elements of Compendium in both its print and online versions, and I welcome your feedback as we move this historic journal forward in 2009.

Sincerely,

John C. Kois, DMD, MSD
