Greater New York

 Permanent link

Sunday is the first day for the Greater New York Dental show. I am getting ready to attend again this year. Thanksgiving was unseasonably warm and I thought we might get lucky for the show. NY is always more enjoyable with warmer weather. No such luck. Today felt like Winter.

I am looking forward to this show. The dental industry is really coming alive. This is one of those exciting times when even people outside our industry know there is a buzz in the air.

Not much in this post, because my ride is here to take me to the airport. See you there.

A new laptop

I just my first new computer in a few years. It is a macbook pro. Sleek and shiny. I am getting used to it after years of using a Dell. I have to say, I am liking it.

I just created my first movie/slideshow of a recent vacation. Not nearly as bad I as thought. Connected the camera, the computer saw my photos, I dragged them into iMovie, added a sound track. In just an hour or so, I had a slideshow worth sitting through.

If Apple can do this for someone as technophobic as me, I wonder what tech companies are doing that for dentists. Is there some piece of software or hardware that you have used that really made your practice easier or a least more fun?

Old equipment gets new life

I saw this today. Guy who ended with some old dental equipment is shipping it to Panama where it can be given a second life. Thought that was a great idea. There are many places in this world that need medical equipment. The equipment is expensive and lot of parts of the world just can't afford it. But you have probably heard that story a hundred million times. I know I have. But I haven't really ever done anything about it. This story gave me an idea.

Do you have any used, old but working and in good condition dental equipment? I think I am going to organize an effort to find equipment like that a home. But first I need to know if there is equipment out there that can be donated, rounded up, and sent to a place that can use them. So how about it, who has what? Send me an email openwide@dentalaegis.com and let's see what we can get done.

Hello World!

Comfortable chair? Check. Keyboard ready? Check. Looks all systems are go for this blog. I am not sure what I will write in this space. dentalaegis.com was gracious enough to provide me with this platform to speak about the dental industry. They have listened to me ramble and rant enough, I guess they figured might as well give me an outlet for all of that energy. Of course, they probably just wanted me to leave them alone.

So I begin. I will write about things I find interesting. Or challenging, Or frustrating. Or about things that make me annoyed or angry or happy. In short, I don't know where this ride will take us. Us being made up of me, the writer and you the intrepid reader. Let's take this out for a spin.
